Plan
Colombia: Cashing In on the Drug-War Failure
(57 minutes) Colombia/USA
Directors/Producers: Gerard Ungerman and Audrey Brohy
Description:
With most of the U.S. military aid under the so-called
"Plan Colombia" delivered, President Pastrana unilaterally withdraws
from the peace process engaged with the FARC (Revolutionary Armed
Forces of Colombia) and steps up violence. Interviews with Noam
Chomsky, Paul Wellstone, Colombian Presidential candidate Ingrid
Betancourt (now a hostage of the FARC), U.S. Government officials,
a WWF scientist, and guerilla-leaders, will shed light on the complex
issues of drug-trafficking and civil struggle in Colombia. The documentary
also looks at the impact and result of the current chemical-spraying
campaign carried out by U.S. Defense-contractor Dyncorp.
