Call for interns/volunteers!
The 7th United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF)
is an international documentary film festival held at Stanford University,
October 20-24,2004. A non-competitive, human-rights based festival
that focuses on United Nations issues, UNAFF covers subjects ranging
from: racism, refugees' protection, war and disarmament, environmental
survival, homelessness, children, women's issues, universal education
and economic sustainability.
If you have interest in documentary films and/or human rights issues
this is a perfect chance for you to get involved in a community-based
non-profit organization. It is an opportunity to not only gain experience
in film festival planning and be a part of the behind the scenes action,
but you will also have an opportunity to see many documentaries that
are rarely seen elsewhere in the United States and it is also a great
opportunity to meet and talk with filmmakers! To thank you for your
help you will receive UNAFF festivals pass for all five days at Stanford
and special screenings in San Francisco! This is your chance to make
a difference for your community and increase your own awareness about
human-rights issues that affect people globally.
Depending on individual experience and/or interest, potential intern/volunteer
activities include work in the following four campaigns:
1. Fundraising Campaign - Fundraising assistant:
As a non-profit organization, we generate funding through various
grants and foundations and local community organizations. The intern
will be involved in all aspects of grant writing, foundation research
and funding solicitation. Prior fundraising experience is a
plus.
2. Publicity Campaign - Marketing Assistant:
Intern will be directly involved in generating publicity for the festival
through the media (newspapers, radio, and TV). Involvement will
include development of press release and press kit, as well as other
marketing materials. Intern will gain experience in coordination and
execution of a press conference, as well. Good organizational and
communication skills.
3. Festival Logistics - Administrative assistant:
we are looking for a highly motivated individual interested in learning
film curation and festival planning. Intern will be responsible for
establishing contacts with filmmakers, soliciting entries to the festival,
helping with promotional festival events, mailing, building and maintaining
database.
If interested please send a cover letter detailing which area you
have interest, with your resume to info@unaff.org or call (650)
