Zulfa and Abduli Walk to School is a story of two children on their daily journey to school, portraying not only the dangers on the road, which include young children hitch hiking and dodging dangerous traffic, but also aims to give the audience a view into the daily home and school life of children living on this African Islamic island.
Biography:
Guillaume Balois is the founder of Zanzifilms. He is an independent videographer and Photographer. He spends his time mainly between Zanzibar and Europe.
Modi Peru is originally from Zanzibar. Modi is also a freelancer with Graphic design and Video.
Jen Pro is the documentary filmmaker working in Zanzibar, who together with Margarita Alemany is the founder and Director of Kukua NGO.
Kukua, which means “to grow” in Swahili, was born in Zanzibar to curb the high incidence of death rate due to traffic accidents, in a country where one of the leading causes of death for children between the ages of 5 and 12 is traffic fatalities. Kukua is a non-for-profit organization with its headquarters in Spain dedicated to sustainable development, equality and improved education. In Zanzibar projects include road safety and community participation processes in sustainable mobility and urban design programs.
