Ripple Effect is a short film for a proposed documentary series that follows accomplished actor and conservationist Matthew Modine on a quest to find what Jacques Cousteau called "wavemakers" - extraordinary people making bold attempts to save the planet before it's too late. Striking a balance between activism and adventure, Matthew and the heroes he visits open our eyes to the wonders of the ocean, the bounty of the land, and all that stands in the way of a prosperous world. Ultimately, these stories are an emotional showcase of human potential and hope, inspiring each of us to participate in the preservation of our Earth.

Biography:

Matthew Modine studied with Stella Adler at her Conservatory of Acting. Matthew has worked with many of the most highly regarded directors including Christopher Nolan, Oliver Stone, Sir Alan Parker, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Altman, Abel Ferrara, Alan J. Pakula, John Schlesinger, Tony Richardson, Robert Falls, Sir Peter Hall, Spike Lee, Tom DiCillo, Mike Figgis, Jonathan Demme and John Sayles. A partial list of his films include: The Dark Knight Rises, Vision Quest, Full Metal Jacket, Married to the Mob, Gross Anatomy, Memphis Belle, Pacific Heights, Short Cuts, The Browning Version and Any Given Sunday. Matthew is the recipient of a Golden Globe Award, Venice Film Festival Volpi Cup and Golden Lion. Mary, directed by Abel Ferrara, co-starring Juliette Binoche and Forest Whitaker, won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Birdy won the Cannes Film Festival Gran Prix. Equinox, directed by Alan Rudolph, received four Independent Spirit Award nominations including Best Actor and Best Film. For his work in television, Matthew was part of the Emmy winning Showtime series Weeds. He has received Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for the M.O.W. What the Deaf Man Heard and HBO's Emmy winning And the Band Played On. Modine has directed several distinguished short films: When I Was a Boy, Smoking, Ecce Pirate, I Think I Thought and To Kill an American.

Adam Rackoff is an award-winning independent filmmaker, former Apple marketing executive, illustrator, graphic artist, podcaster, film festival juror, and crowdfunding expert. Rackoff is the long-time producing partner of actor Matthew Modine and together co-founded the Cinco Dedos Peliculas production company to develop narrative films, documentaries, animation projects, apps, and environmental initiatives. Rackoff is the recipient of over 55 awards, including two Webby Awards — the first for co-producing the New York Times web series TRUMP BITES and the second for producing the political documentary THE BRAINWASHING OF MY DAD.
