Biography:
California filmmaker Mary Skinner produced and directed In the Name of Their Mothers, about Polish heroine Irena Sendler who organized a conspiracy of young women during World War II to save hundreds of Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto. In 2011 it was broadcast on National PBS and went on to win the Gracie Award for best documentary produced and directed by a woman for public television. In 2012 Skinner directed and produced a short film about Microsoft Education Award winner TeachAIDS. At the Midpen Media Center, she produces a regular program about Poland and Central Europe.
