Director: Douglas Gayeton
Producer: Laura Howard-Gayeton

Description:

The Story of an Egg is a short film that hatched from the Lexicon of Sustainability project. In this documentary, two poultry farmers explain the real story behind such terms as "cage free," "free range" and "pasture raised," so that consumers can make informed decisions when they go to their local supermarket. The project is based on a simple premise: people can't be expected to live more sustainable lives if they don't know the most basic terms and principles that define the language of sustainability. Can learning the meaning of a single term actually help change the food system?

Biography:

Douglas Gayeton, director and photographer, is a filmmaker, photographer and writer. The Story of an Egg is part of The Lexicon of Sustainability, a multiplatform project and shorts series that uses photo collage, animation, hand-written typography and a social network to explore terms and ideas behind agriculture.
