The team of a human rights film festival in Guatemala travels to distant peasant communities, mostly indigenous. Fragments of a journey where cinema leads us through the past and present of beautiful territories, marked by violence, injustice and exclusion.
Biography:
Uli Stelzner is an author, producer, and director of independent documentaries. He is the founder of the production company ISKA which is based in Berlin. His documentaries have received much praise, winning several international prizes and screened in theaters, TV channels, and through mobile cinemas in Latin America. Additionally, he has conducted audiovisual projects, films, and workshops in Bolivia, Columbia, Germany, Guatemala, Peru, and the U.S. in 2010, his film La isla opens the path to establish in Guatemala the Documentary and Human Rights Film Festival Muestra de Cine Internacional Memoria Verdad y Justicia, of which he is currently working as the director.
Pepe Orozco Recinos, filmmaker, has worked in all areas of cinema and has directed more than 17 music videos, 7 short fiction films and several documentaries, and is known in the underground movement as one of the most active documentary filmmakers. He is the founder of Zanate Mojado Films, a film label with which he has carried out important projects in Guatemala.
