In an isolated village, far from any school and any hope of an electrical connection, a woman imposes change. Against the advice of men, she goes to train in solar energy to electrify her village. Through her actions, she subtly raises questions about the meaning of modernity and the place of women in society.
Biography:
Élise Darblay is a filmmaker who is mostly working in remote locations (Ethiopia, Brazil, India…) on full-immersion documentaries (social issues, geopolitics, arts...), for broadcasters such as France Télévisions, Ushuaïa TV, Al Jazeera, France 24 and Arte. Darblay is an Ethnology graduate and holds a double degree in History and Philosophy.
Antoine Depeyre has been operating as a DOP and cameraman for the past 20 years.
