Description:

Doing the right thing costs them everything. Sludge tells the stories of farmers who are speaking up about “forever chemicals” poisoning their land, water, and livestock, only to lose everything in the process. Who’s to blame? And what’s being done now to ensure our land and water is safe for future generations?

Biography:

Jeffrey Christian - Since co-founding Side Road Media in 2016, Jeff has directed numerous commercials, branded documentaries, and episodic web series. Jeff’s dedication to creative storytelling guided his 20-year television career from his hometown in Ames, Iowa to LA, New York, Paris, and beyond. His work as a cinematographer gave him the opportunity to produce stories at The White House, three Olympic Games and at the forefront of high-profile news events around the world. As a staff photographer at NBC News in New York City, his work was showcased on NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, MSNBC and Dateline. Along the way, Jeff was honored with two national Edward R. Murrow Awards, 20 regional Emmy Awards and was runner-up to the National Press Photographers Association's.

Matthew Modine’s recent projects include star turns in three feature films, Christopher Nolan's OppenheimerHard Miles, and the most celebrated film of 2024, The Martini Shot. Martini Shot is currently screening at festival across the globe and won over 60 major awards including Best Actor and Best Picture. Matthew has also executive producedthree award winning documentary features, Downwind, Accidental Truth, and Sludge. He was last seen inthe multiple award winning feature Foster Boy, Retribution, Miss VirginiaWrong Turn, Netflix Original feature film, Operation: Varsity Blues andModine's much anticipated return to the Netflix global phenomenon, Stranger Things reuniting him with co-star Millie Bobby Brown. In addition, he has returned to writing and directing with a new, award winning experimental short film, I Am What You Imagine, which is currently screening at film festivals across the globe. Matthew studied with Stella Adler at her Conservatory of Acting. Matthew has worked with many of the most highly regarded directors including Christopher Nolan, Oliver Stone, Sir Alan Parker, Stanley Kubrick, Robert Altman, Abel Ferrara, Alan J. Pakula, John Schlesinger, Tony Richardson, Robert Falls, Sir Peter Hall, Spike Lee, Tom DiCillo, Mike Figgis, Jonathan Demme and John Sayles. Matthew is the recipient of a Golden Globe Award, Venice Film Festival Volpi Cup and Golden Lion. Mary, directed by Abel Ferrara, co-starring Juliette Binoche and Forest Whitaker, won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Birdy won the Cannes Film Festival Gran Prix.Equinox, directed by Alan Rudolph, received four Independent Spirit Award nominations including Best Actor and Best Film. For his work in television, Matthew was part of the Emmy winning Showtime series Weeds. He has received Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations for the M.O.W. What the Deaf Man Heard and HBO's Emmy winning And the Band Played On. Modine has directed several distinguished short films: When I Was a BoySmokingEcce PirateI Think I Thought and To Kill an American.
