Biography:
Matthew Eddy earned his doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Oregon. He teaches Introduction to Sociology, Social Theory, Inequality and Justice, and several service learning courses. His dissertation included several chapters analyzing Costa Rican history and survey data. He has served as a human rights observer engaged in nonviolent protective accompaniment and published several articles on nonviolence and human rights organizations operating in high-conflict zones around the world.
Michael Dreiling earned his B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of California-Irvine and his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Michigan. He is presently writing several papers and a book based on a variety of environmental conflicts and an international comparative study of Energy Industrial Complexes, including Japan, Germany, and the U.S. Also, he completed book manuscript, titled Agents of Globalization, delves into the power-circuits and networks of multinational corporations as they work alongside state actors to craft the project of neoliberal globalization.
Al Jubitz received his BS degree from Yale University and earned his MBA from the University of Oregon School of Business. Al is President and Founder of the Jubitz Family Foundation which directs funding to organizations that foster peace building, environmental stewardship, early childhood education and building bridges out of poverty. A third-generation Rotarian, he is Past President and remains active in the Rotary Club of Portland. Al devotes most of his time to the War Prevention Initiative, a program of the Jubitz Family Foundation.
