Filmmaker
Sedika Mojadidi follows two Afghan women, a member of Parliament and
a journalist, as the international community withdraws from
Afghanistan, threatening its fragile democracy.
Biography: SedikaMojadidi is an independent
filmmaker, producer, and writer, directed her first feature
documentary, Motherland
Afghanistan for PBS’
Independent Lens in 2006. The film follows her father’s struggle to
make a difference in the maternal mortality epidemic gripping
Afghanistan and premiered at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Sedika has produced and filmed television projects for over a decade.
Her credits include: ABC News, The Discovery Channel, Guardian
Multi-Media, Human Rights Watch, A&E, TLC, New York Times
Television and the Food Network. Her writing was featured in the
anthology of Afghan American writing, One Story, Thirty Stories,
winner of the 2012 Independent Book Publishers Silver Award for Best
Anthology.
Jenny Raskin is a
documentary director and producer based in New York. She also works
as the VP for development for Impact Partners, a social issue
documentary fund. Her credits include: Here Come the Videofreex, Motherland Afghanistan, Our Nixon, and Step.
