Description:
An
unframed portrait of Magnum photographer Raghu Rai and his 50 year
long journey capturing the stories of India. Raghu Rai's stories told
through the eyes of his own rebel daughter. Together they embark on a
journey to Kashmir, the most militarised land on earth.
Biography: Avani Rai has
worked as a cameraperson on short films. In 2013 she worked on Uski
Baarish, which premiered at Clermond Ferrand, Aspen Film Festival
and Tiff. She’s worked both in fiction and documentary
storytelling. As a photographer, she’s done stories for the Sunday
Guardian, Scroll and The Wire. Commercial projects
include: Lifebuoy and Nandita Das’s play Between The
Lines. She recently directed and shot a mid length documentary on
Raghu Rai: Rahu Rai- An Unframed Portrait, co-produced by
Arte France and the IDFA Bertha Fund.
Torstein Grude is
a film writer, director, cinematographer and producer. His films are
often philosophical and political, and deal with spirituality, human
rights, animal rights, racism, exploitation of the poor, censorship,
gender-related issues and so forth. The most recent films include The
Act of Killing, Back to the Square, Pirate Bay AFK, Dance of Outlaws, Pushwagner, Russian Lessons, Discoveries of a Marionette, Yodok Stories, Belarusian
Waltz, and On a Tightrope. These internationally acclaimed
films have won more than 200 awards and honorable mentions and have
been nominated for 2 Oscars, 4 Emmys and 3 European Academy Awards.
Iikka Vehkalahti is
the Executive Producer of IV Films Ltd, Rough Cut Service and Dare To
Dream Asia. He is also one of the founders and board member of Steps
and the Commissioning Editor for the Finnish Broadcasting Company,
YLE Documentaries, Finland. He was involved or supported numerous
international well known documentaries like Act of Killing, Look
Of Silence, Armadillo, Happiness, Don't Breathe, Placebo, The
Ambassadors. He has been tutor among others in Doc Incubator, Ex
Oriente, DocEdge, IDFA Summer School, EuroDoc and Steps India.
