BELONGING
(52 minutes) Canada/USA
Directors/Producers: Gerard Ungerman, Audrey Brohy
Description:
Belonging is a scientific and spiritual journey into humanity's footprint on the Earth. A close look at some Inuit communities in the Canadian Arctic reveals that the global irresponsible abuse of fossil energies and polluting technologies bear many more consequences on people and the environment than simply climate change. Beyond global warming, there are countless reasons today why we have no other choice than to embrace a whole new ethic of respect for nature and to resolutely turn away from short-sighted environmental carelessness.
Biography:
With both a military and journalistic background, Gerard Ungerman started Free-Will Productions with Audrey Brohy in 1995. Motivated by an acute sense of justice, he began producing and directing documentaries in a purely independent spirit. Productions include the internationally acclaimed Hidden Wars of Desert Storm, The Oil Factor, Plan Colombia: Cashing-In on the Drug War Failure, Peru: Between the Hammer & the Anvil (an AFI award winner) and Confessions of a New York Call-Girl.
Audrey, a Swiss native, has developed early in her life both a raging aversion to injustice and hypocrisy and a keen artistic eye that first materialized in still-photography. After studying drama-art at Paris' renown "Conservatoire des Arts Dramatiques", she moved to New York where she graduated from "School of Visual Arts". Audrey started "Free-Will" in 1995 with Gerard and has participated to all tasks from pre-production to distribution.
