Description: In this animated documentary, World War II veteran Joseph Robertson remembers fighting at the Battle of the Bulge where he shot and killed a German soldier whom he has never been able to forget. He recorded the story in July 2005 with his son-in-law, John Fish, Jr., as part of StoryCorps, the national oral history project. Joseph Robertson, eighty-six, joined the National Guard in 1935. During World War II he served in Europe as part of the 30th Infantry Division. In 1961, after twenty-six years of service in the Army, he retired.
Biography:
From their very first job delivering newspapers to their numerous creative collaborations over the years, brothers Mike and Tim Rauch have always worked together. Now, they've formed Rauch Brothers Animation, a studio making hand-drawn animated films. Germans in the Woods is the studio's first film. Mike also works as a facilitator at StoryCorps, where he helps record, archive and edit interviews from everyday people all across the United States. Tim is currently working to complete Rauch Brothers' new short film, The Park Bench.
