This documentary feature looks at the work and lives of twelve contemporary Cuban artists, living in Havana today. Through in-depth interviews, the film covers a diverse range of subjects and issues, from supply shortages and constant blackouts to family life, love, sex and music. Visiting each person in their home and studio, the film explores the varying styles, techniques, themes, philosophies and ideas present in their work. Through this is revealed the many obstacles and difficulties that are faced on a daily basis and the feelings each person has towards the place they call home.
Biography:
Bruce Donnelly is a film producer and director, the owner of Lost Boy Productions LLC and a partner of DKR Films. Both film production companies are based in New York City. Pursuing his lifelong passion for filmmaking, he studied film and media studies in his home country of South Africa, before going on to further his education at the New York Film Academy. Following his graduation in 2007, he formed Lost Boy Productions and has called New York his home ever since. Together with his partners, Fermin Rojas and James Kubesch, Bruce formed DKR Films earlier this year. The team are currently in production for their latest documentary feature, which looks at the formation and phenomenal rise to fame of Cuba's first ever openly gay men's vocal group, Antinous. This current project was the winner of this year's Film Fund Competition, at the American Documentary Film Festival, in California.
