Description:
Famed
neurologist Phil Kennedy made global headlines in the late 90's for
connecting the brain of a paralyzed man to a computer. He was
compared to Alexander Graham Bell in The Washington Post and became
known as ‘The Father of the Cyborgs.’ Then in 2014, he traveled
to Belize to implant his own brain to unlock the mystery of speech
for locked-in patients. But now, the controversial inventor is
concerned that the field he helped pioneer may lead to unintended
consequences in a future where technology and human brains combine.
Biography:
David Burke is an award
winning Irish documentary filmmaker. His first documentary as
producer, Men of the Ras,
was the Critics Choice in The Irish Times where it was described as a
'gem'. It won both the Best Sport and Overall Prize at the 2013
Celtic Media Festival. His second film as producer, Crash
and Burn, received 4 star reviews in
publications such as The Irish Times and The Guardian. It
subsequently won Best Sports documentary at both Celtic Media
Festival and Irish Film Television Awards.
Seán Ó Cualáin is an award
winning Irish director, his first documentary Mé
Féin's mo Mhéit based on 2 former boat
racing champions was acclaimed as being the definitive Irish
documentary, understated, confident visual storytelling. His
documentary Men at Lunch screened at TIFF and has been sold to over 60 countries. He has
directed for Irish television, TG4 & RTÉ with his strengths been
his ability to find the remarkable in the mundane coupled with the
sheer diversity of his subjects; be that documenting the cast-asides
of modern Ireland, the destructive power of nature, sporting icons,
the demystifying of literary giants, the delicate tale of a bishop’s
secret lovechild, to the remarkable legacy of a famous image.
