painting and dance, Marie-Hélène, a respected figure on the
Canadian contemporary art scene, finds an outlet for her creativity
and her resilient spirit, after losing both her legs as a child. The
arrival of her daughters sparks a new sense of freedom, pushing
herself to let go self-censorship and to fully bloom.
Biography:
Annie Leclair, French
Canadian award winning editor and now filmmaker, is an expert story
teller known for her powerful films that resonate with audiences
around the world. Annie’s directorial debut, the short film Grounded, was chosen
to represent Quebec at the International Human Rights Film Festival
of Hong Kong and was praised at the 8th edition of Asia Micro Films
Art Festival of Yunnan, China. Finalist at the 2021 SIMA AWARDS and
awarded the Jury's Special Mention at the 39th International Festival
of Films on Art of Montreal, Grounded also received the Honorable Mention at Play Short International Film
Awards and is a finalist to both Diversity in Cannes and Indie Shorts
Cannes. Finally, Grounded was selected at the Show Me Shorts Film Festival of New Zealand and
Saguenay International Film Festival REGARD. Passionate and dedicated
about filmmaking, Annie has been a documentary film editor for 15
years. She is currently working on her first feature length
documentary as a writer and director.
